About Us

The Belles Lettres Club was organized in 1888, and they held their first meeting on the Northside. The purpose of the Belles Lettres Club is to study literature and to foster appreciation of the fine arts, to assist in maintaining the Oil City Library, to promote civic improvements, and to sponsor those things that tend toward the advancement of public welfare.
The Belles Lettres Club is open to women of all ages, though the group is made up of women of retirement.
