About Us

The Mission of Venango Area Riding for the Handicapped Association Inc. (VARHA) is to provide therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with disabilities, ''at risk'' youth, and families in crisis in Venango County and surrounding areas of northwestern Pennsylvania.
VARHA's annual programming runs from April through October and consists of Therapeutic Riding classes for riders who need to be led on a horse with one or two people walking along side; Tack & Ride private one on one therapeutic riding classes for riders who have skilled out of the group sessions and want to work towards more horse handling and independent riding; a Young Riders program for children 4-7 years of age; various ''horse camps'' for youth ages 8-18 from the general public; and Cart classes for those confined to wheelchairs or who cannot otherwise sit astride a horse. We also work with several agencies within the community to provide programs for their at-risk families/youth.
