About Us
The mission of the Venango County Historical Society is to collect county history and make it accessible to the public. Collecting history is accomplished by acquiring artifacts relating to the county, and then accessing and recording them and placing them in appropriate storage. Making history available is presented in various ways. A Genealogical Library and an Archival Research Center are available for family and community research. Among the many documents available for research and group documents, photographs, as well as, the original pages of wills, naturalizations and estate papers from 1800-1900 (which are on permanent loan from the County Courthouse).
The Society periodically publishes books and pamphlets on county history and has them for sale. Closed from January to March 31st. In April the Library and House are open on Saturdays only, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. May 1st to December 31st the Society is open to public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. The Research Library is open on Wednesday and Thursday.
